Currently I wash my hair every week as well co-wash and deep condition mid-week. I made a decision to do a mid week because I felt I need to strengthen my hair and amp up my regimen for greater results.
So on the weekends I do the following:-
- Pree-poo using coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and Jamaican black castor oil, I do this by sitting under my Vidal Sassoon soft pvc hood for 30 minutes to 60 mins
- shampoo with a sulphate-free moisturising shampoo, and once per month with ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo to remove build up and thoroughly cleanse my scalp
- Do a Tea rinse with either black or green tea. This has been said to reduce shedding. As I have just included this step in my regimen, I am not able to fully confirm this but I will share with you an update and further details as time progresses.
- Rinse hair with a regular/moisturising conditioner to get hair feeling supple. The tea have the tendency make the hair feeling hard particularly the black tea, it is essential to reduce manipulation of the hair when this process is done.
- Low -medium protein treatment. My hair is relaxed and I have been doing a relaxer stretch since October 2013, so the inclusion of protein is very critical for strengthening the relax portion of my hair and reducing breakage at the line of demarcation of my natural and relaxed hair. I would sometimes do a heavy protein treatment or alma and fenugreek treatment every 6-8 weeks.
- Moisturising Deep conditioner. It is always important to follow up a protein treatment with moisturising deep conditioner . This is to ensure that the hair does become dry and brittle from my weekly protein treatments. If you don't have the patience and cannot be bothered to be hopping in and out from you deep conditioning cap, hooded dryer or steamer, you can make life easier by combining the light protein treatment with the moisturising deep conditioner.
- Rinse with apple cider vinegar mix.
- T-shirt dry my hair
- Apply Leave-in
- Moisturise and seal
For my mid-week wash I normally do the following:
- pree poo with hot oil treatment
- co-wash with sulphate-free conditioner
- Deep condition with moisturising conditioner.
- T-shirt dry my hair
- Apply Leave-in
- Moisturise and seal
